Maximus is a contractor with the Dept of Consumer Affairs, and the California State Board of Pharmacy.  We administer and coordinate the diversion program for pharmacist who have drug, alcohol or mental health issues that impact their ability to safely practice. We accept clients who self refer and clients who are referred by the board.  A majority of the cost is paid for by the board.

Joan E Coyne, Pharm.D. writes: “Pharmacists and interns can enter the program on their own with complete anonymity. The Board will in some cases refer pharmacists "In Lieu Of" disciplinary action and some pharmacists are mandated into the program secondary to administrative action when they are put on probation.”

There are 80+ Pharmacist in the Pharmacist Recovery Program, and that rate remains consiste
