SUMMARY OF THE INTERNATIONAL PHARMACISTS ANONYMOUS BUSINESS MEETING HELD AT
THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH SCHOOL ON ALCOHOLISM AND OTHER DRUG DEPENDENCIES

                                          JUNE 19
, 2006, SALT LAKE CITY UTAH

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the future plans of I.P.A. Since the former listkeeper,
Mary Jo Cerny's sudden passing 1/28/05, members of the organization have been trying to "keep things going".
This meeting took place before the Annual University of Utah I.P.A. Open Meeting.

The following is a summary of the business meeting:

bullet The meeting preceded the IPA meeting on Tuesday evening of the Utah School
bullet We decided we will work to maintain IPA as a separate entity rather than affiliating with IDAA. The IPA database file is now in
Bob Rossi’s hands.
bullet Emily Dykstra has volunteered to be the IPA e-mail newsletter coordinator. To accomplish this, we need to verify and correct the
member list, get current e-mail addresses, and determine those who do not have e-mail access. To do this, Emily will work with
Bob Rossi to coordinate getting mailing labels prepared for all IPA members. It will be the responsibility of the IPA Steering Committee
to develop the letter soliciting updates. In the interest of maintaining the integrity of the IPA list, it will likely be best to have responses to
sent to the Listkeeper (Bob Rossi). He can work with Emily to develop the e-mail list. Those who prefer not to receive e-mails from IPA or
do not have an e-mail address will likely be given the option to receive paper snail mailings, but they will probably be asked for donations
to offset the cost of mailing.
bullet Pierre DelPrato confirmed that there were adequate funds to support the printing and mailing of the member survey. He will continue as
IPA Treasurer; funds collected at IPA meetings should continue to be sent to him.
bulletWe are exploring ways to update the website.
bullet Should we continue to collect at IPA meetings? Yes
bullet For what? Steering Committee will consider options – e.g., scholarships for pharmacists or students to Utah or regional PRN meetings?
bullet Suggestion – look at developing temporary online sponsor resource
bullet Need – we should consider finding a publicist to promote IPA meetings at pharmacy events (or perhaps an identified IPA member for each
specific meeting such as APhA Convention, regional PRNs)

Action items for Steering Committee:

Work on member survey form and process – Emily and Bob to coordinate (first draft by September 15??)

Website – Jeff to work with George Loaris (in progress)

If there are additional items that I neglected to include in this report or that you suggest need priority consideration, please contact me.

Respectfully submitted,

Jeff Baldwin
