This 501(c)(3) (Tax Exempt) organization has a 5 member (non-paid) board of directors.
Volunteers (advocates) are paid to attend meetings. They are reimbursed for travel and
the time they commit to individual cases.  IPRN is free standing/separate from the
Pharmacy State Board. It does have a written contract with the Board of Pharmacy,
has enabling legislation that allowed the Board to increase license fees, earmark that money,
and contract with an organization such as IPRN.  The contract requires them to give monthly
anonymous reports and annual financial reports. IPRN has contracted with Emily Dykstra, RPh.,
Pro Heights Consultants, Inc., to monitor the client contracts, provide reports and provide a
web-based EMR.. IPRN carries general liability insurance.  It has a public member on their
governing committee with substance abuse credentials.  IPRN has active student
branches at Drake University, Des Moines and University of Iowa, Iowa City.
IPRN provides education and resources on impairment.

What about funding? The organization does not charge client fees. It does receive funding through
license renewal fees: $10/R.Ph., $3.30/ Registered Technician, $1.10/ Pharmacist Intern
(This is 10% of each license) Other sources of funding: Contributions and Grants

Active clients may include: Pharmacists, Student Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians
