This 501(c)(3) (Tax
Exempt) organization has a 5 member (non-paid) board of directors.
Volunteers (advocates) are paid to attend meetings. They are reimbursed
for travel and
the time they commit to individual cases. IPRN is free standing/separate
from the
Pharmacy State Board. It does have a written contract with the Board of
Pharmacy,
has enabling legislation that allowed the Board to increase license fees,
earmark that money,
and contract with an organization such as IPRN. The contract requires
them to give monthly
anonymous reports and annual financial reports. IPRN has contracted with
Emily Dykstra, RPh.,
Pro Heights Consultants, Inc., to monitor the client contracts, provide
reports and provide a
web-based EMR.. IPRN carries general liability insurance. It has a public
member on their
governing committee with substance abuse credentials. IPRN has active
student
branches at Drake University, Des Moines and University of Iowa, Iowa
City.
IPRN provides education and resources on impairment.
What about
funding?
The organization does not
charge client fees. It does receive funding through
license renewal fees: $10/R.Ph.,
$3.30/ Registered Technician, $1.10/ Pharmacist Intern
(This is 10% of each license)
