Formed in 1987, this organization has a
10 member (with 4 alternates) non-paid board of directors, and a paid
position of a part-time secretary. It hires a third party to call for urine
screens. It is free standing/separate
from the Pharmacy State Board and the
State Pharmacy Professional
Organizations. It does not carry general
liability insurance; because of legislation they have immunity from
prosecution. This organization has
a written
signed “Memorandum of
Understanding”with the Board of Pharmacy. It has enabling legislation that
says the
Board of Pharmacy
can use money collected as fees, to pay for the
impairment program. MARP publishes a
newsletter quarterly.
What about funding?
The
organization charges client fees:
$600.00 per year for pharmacists and $300.00 per
year for pharmacy
technicians.They are
billed
monthly in installments of $50.00 per month or
pharmacists and $25.00 per month
for technicians. It also receives funding through
license renewal
fees: $5/license.
