APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management Addiction Practitioner Interest Group The mission of the APhA Addiction Practitioner Interest Group is to foster greater awareness and understanding of addictive disease as a public health issue and promote treatment and recovery from addictive illnesses through education, advocacy and peer support. The APhA Addiction Practitioner Interest Group (PInG) was formed in 1999 by the APhA-APPM Executive Committee as a natural extension of the association’s long-standing work in addressing the issue of chemical dependency within the pharmacy profession. Currently the Addiction PInG has more than a hundred members. Addiction PInG membership is open to any APhA member with an interest in addiction. Many PInG members are pharmacists who are interested in the treatment of patients and/or colleagues who suffer from the disease of chemical dependency or who are in recovery themselves. Other members participate in state recovery network (PRN) programs or have an interest in supporting friends and colleagues who suffer from addictive disorders. This interest group provides a mechanism for these pharmacists to share information and to provide their expertise to the association on addiction related matters. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Addiction PInG, please complete the following enrollment form and return it to Val Peteet, APhA, Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management, 2215 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20037 or fax it to (202) 628-0443.
