Hawaii P.R.N.

Information updated as of 3/2021

"In 1983, The Hawai‘i Medical Association (HMA) established a Committee on Physician's Health (CPH).  For over 20 years, CPH consisted of a dedicated group of volunteer physicians who assisted and monitored their colleagues in need. Time and experience demonstrated the need to establish a stand-alone entity,  independent from any outside group or organization. In October 2006, Pu‘ulu Lapa‘au, the Hawai‘i Program for Healthcare Professionals was formed. This independence not only allowed us the flexibility to offer assistance to a variety of other healthcare providers, not just physicians, but also enabled us to provide a higher level of confidentiality and privacy protection.

Since 2006, the composition of the Board of Directors has evolved to include other healthcare professionals.  Initially composed of physicians only, the Pu‘ulu Lapa‘au Board now includes nurses, dentists and pharmacists. This diversity has broadened the scope of our expertise and enriched our group with a greater understanding of how best to aid our healthcare providers and our community.”  from their website

Aloha,

I am in Honolulu.  I’ve been on the board of directors for a long time for the local PHP. I have tried to do some outreach in the community, but I haven’t had a single pharmacist come through our program. I need to do more.

Sincerely

Pajnhiag Real
