This 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization is free standing/separate from the Pharmacy State Board.

“The Delaware Pharmacists Society is an Impaired Pharmacist Program that is run by a committee of volunteer pharmacists. If a pharmacist is referred to the program, then the Board of Pharmacy will not revoke their license to practice pharmacy. The pharmacist contacts the substance abuse professional. We (DPS) pay all costs for this professional from our budget that we get from dues/membership corporate support, etc.... We do not have further network/recovery programs ongoing after the pharmacist completes the impaired program. I have been approached by several members who think that we should develop a more lasting recovery program….any information that you could provide would be helpful.”

What about funding? The organization does not charge client fees. It does not receive funding through license renewal fees. Other sources of funding: Dues $100 per person, corporate and associate members.
